the Fire of London [the Fire of London] (also the Great Fire ; )
a very large fire which lasted for two days in 1666 and destroyed many parts of London, including the old ↑St Paul's Cathedral. Many people remember that it is said to have started in a street called Pudding Lane and finished in another called Pie Corner.
